Imphal, December 21 2011:
Contrary to the JAC Against the Merciless Rape and Murder of Baby Nafisa Sahani alleging lack of cooperation by one Dr.Rajak, owner of Rajak Building (Minuthong) where the incident took place, Social Development Coordinating Committee has stated that the JAC targeting the owner is unwarranted.
The JAC formed in connection with the suspected rape and murder of 10-year old Nafisa Sahani has condemned failure of the State authorities to round up the real culprits and demanded that all those involved in the inhumane act clarify on the matter within three days.
Speaking to newspersons after an emergency meeting at Manipur Press Club today, JAC convenor Md Rejwan said intense agitation would be launched in case those involved in the criminal act-could not be brought to justice by the Government.
It also demanded that the murderers state their position on the said issue within three days.
he convenor also alleged that Dr Rajak, owner of Rajak Building located near Hatta Minuthong, where the incident took place, has not been cooperating to the JAC in its pursuit for justice and threatened that any further indifferent attitude of the owner will compel the JAC to initiate stringent steps.
Rejwan also noted that in connection with the rape and murder of the minor girl.
POROMPAT police have detained mother of Rajak Building chowkidar Md Islamuddin (25) and wife of the 25-year old's cousin brother Md Rafi (30).While the real culprits are still at large, representatives of the JAC were rebuked by Dr Rajak when approached to cooperate, the convenor claimed and described alleged indifferent attitude of the building owner as an affront to the society.
The meeting convened today resolved to ceaselessly pursue the case and to launch strong agitation if the real culprits could not be rounded up by the Government of Manipur.
Among others repre-sentativc of Kangleipak Women's Welfare Association also attended the meeting.
Later in the evening, joint secretary of the Coordinating Committee Hamid said the Committee, a conglomerate of 11 youth organisations of Imphal East district, do not approve the JAC allegedly instigating the people against the owner of Rajak Building.
Speaking to newspersons at the Minuthong Hafiz Hatta office of Social Welfare Union, Hamid said with the police having already detained two persons in connection with the rape and murder case the matter should be left for the Court concerned to decide on the legal course of action.
Describing the JAC lashing out against Dr Rajak as unjustifiable and unfortunate, he disclosed that a joint meeting of the JAC, local leaders and delegates of the Committee was held at the office chamber of the Additional SP (Imphal East) to sort out differences, if any, on the said issue.
However, proposal for another meeting as was agreed at the ASP's office chamber failed to take place due to absence of JAC members, Hamid claimed and added that an agreement was reached that the victim's family would claim the body.
Contending that(due to instigation by the JAC agreement on claiming the victim's body could not materialise, he also maintained that even the local Imam's request to the victim's family failed to evoke positive response.
Hamid also named one Rabi, a JAC member, of allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakhs from Dr Rajak to settle the issue besides opining that a group of people led by some JAC functionaries storming Dr Rajak's house this afternoon is a deviation from the ongoing campaign for the sake of justice.
