Imphal, August 21 2021: Even though the state government is claiming significant improvement in the Covid-19 situation in the state, the daily positivity rate shows a different story as the state continues to register double-digit positivity rate amid the failure of the government to improve the daily test capacity and the vaccination rate.

Government bulletins on Saturday reported 8 new fatalities along with 442 new positive cases out of 3645 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 12.13 per cent against 10.21 per cent recorded on Friday.

Daily fatality counts also witnessed a gradual rise after a few days of respite.

However, the state is recording single digit fatality count for the last six consecutive days though there is no official confirmation on the number of deaths which the authority labelled as non-Covid.

The active caseload came down to 4139 out of which 1470 (36.63 per cent) are in home isolation, 1023 (24.72 per cent) in CHICs, 1011 (24.43 per cent) in CCCs and 635 (15.34 per cent) in hospitals.
