MLA Robindro hails Agnipath scheme

A 30-day free coaching camp organised for youth of Mayang Imphal AC as preparation for Agnipath recruitment by Viswash Education Society with support from 165th Infantry Territorial Army, Assam Rifles and Mayang Imphal MLA K Robindro commenced from Wednesday at Pravabati College, Mayang Imphal.
MLA Robindro, Viswash Education Society president Chongtham Shyamchandra, 165th Infantry TA colonel FP Dubash, major Hijam Somorjit, SP Imphal West Ksh Shivakanta and Pravabati College principal G Premchand attended the inaugural session as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Robindro, who is also the chairman of MANIDCO, asserted that the central government's Agnipath scheme can instil the sense of nationalism among the youth and revitalise their discipline.
The scheme provides an opportunity to the youth to dedicate their youthful years for the country.
Different countries are adopting such policies for their armies, he said, while hailing the scheme as a good one.
Colonel FP Dubash said that there were some misunderstandings and communication gaps regarding the Agnipath scheme earlier.
However, youth across the country are now preparing for the recruitment.
Recruitment style is same with the existing system except for the changes in some terms and conditions, duration of service, he said.
He also expressed confidence that the youth of Manipur will have high chances of selection in the physical efficiency test, and stressed the need for making preparations to clear the written test.
Coaching kits were also distributed to the participants during the function.
