CM scans liquid oxygen plant; visits CCC sites

Imphal, May 20 2021:
Chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday inspected the oxygen plant site at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal where a 10,000-litre Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) Cryogenic storage tank would be installed.
The foundation work for installing the tank is now in completion stage.
It is reported that the cryogenic tank has reached Silchar and would be in Imphal by Friday morning.
The plant is likely to start operation by May 23 .
N Biren also visited and took stock of the ground situation of another site at Porompat where an oxygen plant is to be set up.
A Liquid Medical Oxygen Cryogenic tank of 20,000-litre would also be installed at the site.
The plant will have a refilling capacity of 40 cylinders per hour.
Interacting with doctors at JNIMS, the CM said that 100 more ICU beds would be added to the existing Covid Block and advised the JNIMS authority to speed up the work to ensure necessary infrastructure for the same.
Earlier, the chief minister visited Sad-bhavna Mandap located at Kyamgei Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district in connection with setting up of a Covid Care Centre (CCC).
He also visited Modern College Indoor Hall, Porompat where the government is planning to set up another CCC.
During the visit, the CM was accompanied by Khurai MLA L Susindro, Keirao MLA L Rameshwor, principal secretary (health) V Vumlunmang, secretary to chief minister N Geoffrey and other government officials.
