Rs 3 crore worth of WY tablets seized

Customs Preventive Force, Moreh, arrested a 32 year old individual along with Rs 3 crore worth of World is Yours (WY) tablets from Chikim Veng, near Moreh oil pump, along Asian Highway Imphal-Moreh road, today.
The arrested individual, identified as David Doungel (32) s/o Shigil Doungel of N Chajang village (under Saikul subdivision, Kangpokpi district) was produced along with 30,000 number of WY tablets (weighing around 3 kilograms) in front of media persons at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Customs Division Imphal at Sangakpham today.
Speaking to media persons RK Darendrajit (IRS), Assistant Commissioner of Customs Division Imphal, stated that acting on specific information, the officers of Customs Preventive Force.
Moreh, led by its Superintendent, intercepted and detected illegal transportation of 30,000 amphetamine tablets having the trade mark "881" and weighing around 3 kilograms from David Doungel, at around 10.30 am at Chikim Veng, near Moreh petrol pump.
Pointing out that the total value of the seized drugs is around Rs 3 crore, he said that during preliminary interrogation the arrested individual revealed that the seized amphetamine tablets were of Myanmar origin and he (Doungel) was trying to smuggle them from Myanmar to Imphal, through Moreh.
A case has been registered under ND&PS Act against the arrested individual, the Assistant Commissioner added.
