Trust honours award winning artistes

Imphal, January 19 2022:
For the first time in Manipur, artistes who brought laurel for the state in the field of art and culture at the highest level were collectively honoured by Thongam Sajou Memorial Trust, Ningomthongjao on Wednesday.
Altogether 290 artistes including those who won national and state awards in dance and song, film, theatre, Shumang Leela and crafts were honoured by presenting memento, shawl and Rs 5,000 cash each by the Trust during a solemn function held at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Gate here.
Works minister Thongam Biswajit, who is the trustee of Thongam Sajou Memorial Trust, said that the Trust was established in the year 2012 in the name of his late grandfather with the main objective of bringing a peaceful and developed society.
He also announced that the award presented on Wednesday will be given every year and every possible effort will be made to increase the amount of cash incentive.
Among those honoured during the event included recipients of Sangeet Natak Akademi award, Ustad Bismila Khan Yuva Puraskar award, Lalit Kala Akademi, Sahitya Akademi award, feature and non-feature film award, Indian Pan-aroma award, Padmashree, Manipur State Kala Akademi award and tribal artistes.
A music video entitled 'Thambal' dedicated to BJP produced by minister Thongam Biswajit was also released at the event.
Herojit Naoroibam is the lyricist of the song while Sori Senjam is music the director.
The song has been sung by prominent singers of the state like Sori Senjam, Hamom Sadananda, Tijendra, Swamikumar, Uttam, Bonium, Pushparani, Ak Yangoi, Surma, Chitra and Arbin.
Artistes who made appearance in the song included Kaiku, Khaba, Biju, Motibala, James, Amar, Diya, Narendra Ningomba, Bony Sharma, Olen, Danny, Bala, Sonia, Maya Chaudhury, Gokul and Sani.
