Langban Chara offered to slain martyrs

People from different walks of life gathered and offered Langban Chara, as part of the annual ritual of paying homage to the departed souls, to those killed in the current humanitarian crisis in the state at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Haying Khongban Uphong Yumbam, here, on Saturday.
The ritual also marked the month long Langban Chara Tamba organised by Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB).
The board also presented token of appreciation to the families of 53 people, who were killed in the current crisis while defending the territorial integrity and identity of Manipur.
The 11th song of Kukiland album of renowned fusion singer Tapta, who had been conferred the title 'Matam Khongloi Seishakpa', was also released on the occasion.
The latest song of the album is a tribute to the fallen fighters.
Speaking on the occasion, LSTB member secretary Maisnam Shivadutta Luwang informed that usually, Langban Chara Tamba ritual begins from the full-moon day of Meetei lunar month of Langban.
However, after consulting religious experts and scholars, the board decided to begin the ritual from the first day of Langban from this year, he said.
He also urged the people to bring to the knowledge of the board if there is anybody missing from the list of 53 fallen heroes honoured by the board.
Singer Tapta said that even small children know who began the violence.
Today, God knows who is right and who is wrong, which is why Meetei, despite their inferior position, withstand the aggression of Kuki.
He also hailed the contribution of women and their blessings for the warriors.
He further said that from now on, he will release only two songs a month in the Kuliland series.
Many people keep asking him if he is planning any concert and he is willing to organise the concert at Koubru hill followed by other religious sites like Thangjing Wangbrel, Kondong Lairembi and Kongba Maru among others, he said, while seeking support from the public.
