Imphal, July 16 2018:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has accused the then Congress Government of being the cause behind the current Indo-Myanmar border pillar issue.
Speaking to media persons at BJP Manipur Pradesh head office today K Sarat, general secretary (administration) BJP, said that looking after the desire and the sentiments of the people, a team led by Chief Minister N Biren and party president K Bhabananda, along with council of Ministers and senior party leaders are presently stationed at the National capital to hold talks with the National leaders in connection with the Indo-Myanmar border pillar and the Manipur University impasse.
He informed that the team has already met the Union Home Minister and has appealed to the authority concerned to send a survey team to look after the issue and to carry out the survey.
He also stated that in connection with the Manipur University issue, a fact finding committee has been constituted as well.
On the other hand Sarat alleged that the border issue is from a long time back, when the Congress party was in power.
He continued that it was clearly mentioned in BJP election manifesto of Lok Shaba election 2014 that BJP will look after the border issue and if any errors or problems were found, they will remove the border pillars.
Sarat alleged that other political parties of the State, instead of trying to solve the present issue, went to National capital and met their National leaders and are spreading allegations against the State Government to take political advantage.
On the other hand, Sarat conveyed that the scuffle which occurred between the volunteers of DESAM and State police personnel in front of BJP head office in which seven volunteers sustained injuries, is very unfortunate.
However, he denied to give any comment explaining that he is not the competent authority to answer anything in connection with the mass rejection by MUSU and others regarding the formation of fact finding committee in connection with the university issue.
