Imphal, April 16 2020: The Police Department continued its crackdown on violators of lockdown/curfew imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus in the State and during the drive 605 violators along with 440 vehicles were detained today.

The violators were produced before the Magistrate concerned and total fine of Rs 70,250/- was imposed, informed a press release issued by Addl Director General of Police.

The Police Department also appealed the public to stay indoors and follow guidelines issued by the Government and also requested all persons stepping out to buy essential items/medicines etc to maintain social distance.

The department will continue to enforce the lockdown strictly, it added.

The lockdown due to coronavirus has been extended till May 3 .
