Imphal, September 15 2018: The 35th foundation day of Mahila Congress was observed today at Congress Bhavan today here.

The function began with hoisting of the Mahila Congress flag by Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (MPMCC) president M Sarda Devi.

Victor Keishing (General Secretary, i/c MPCC) and N Loken Singh (MLA and vice president MPCC) attend the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion.

Patso AC MLA AK Mirabai said that Congress candidates will defeat their BJP rivals in the Lok Sabha election which is due next year.

Hoisting of the Mahila Congress flag symbolises Congress party's sustained efforts to empower women and uplift them economically, politically and socially.

She hinted that Congress party might field woman/women candidate(s) for the Lok Sabha election.

Equality in voting rights and equal representation of women in decision making bodies will shape India as a modern State, she said.

Victor Keishing also spoke about the role of women in hills and valley of the State.

Women are vulnerable since quite a long time back although Congress party treats men and women equally unlike BJP.

Empowerment of women adequately will change the Nation, he said and appreciated bravery of the womenfolk of Manipur.
