Ukhrul, November 14 2013:
A joint team of Central Public Work Department (CPWD), Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and Hunphun Executive Council (HEC) on Thursday inspected the ongoing construction works and conducted spot assessment of the upcoming projects at Kendraya Vidyala Sangathan (KVS) in Ukhrul district.
On Thursday afternoon, a CPWD team led by its Agartala based Chief Engineer MC Bansal and other officials took stock of the work progress and assessed the prevailing conditions for early and effective implementation of the work for the permanent building of KVS at Suklui on the outskirts of Ukhrul town.
The official inspection team also included TNL, Hunphun Executive Council and officials of KVS.
After a cursory assessment of the work progress at the site, the visiting officials stated that the construction work will be completed and the school will be made fully functional in three years.
They conducted a test on the locally produced sand and declared that it is of a low quality.
The chief engineer washed the sand for seven times and got a desired result that is fit for use.
The officials also said the fencing construction has been completed by 90 per cent and will be over in few months.
TNL president Artax A Shimray pointed out that the site has connectivity problem and scarcity of water is another cause of concern for the work to progress smoothly.
KVS is currently being run in a building at TNL premises.
Shimray further pointed out that the school needs to be upgraded to higher secondary, and informed that students passing out from it has been facing problem in getting admission to its sister institutions in the state.
An official source said the KVS school project has been delayed due to certain technical reasons.
