Imphal, September 14 2022:
Expressing concern over tension gripping the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) subsequent to disputes between two groups of the Union, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has urged the government to bring a solution to the conflict in the interest of the people, student community in particular.
Talking to media persons at its office here on Wednesday, MSF general secretary Hijam Roshan pointed out that as Section 144 of CrPC has been clamped down in the campus of DM University following the unruly incident at AMSU head office located inside the campus, the government has restricted gathering of people in the university.
While pointing out that admission process for BA 1st Semester in DM University has been completed and preparation underway for commencing classes, he said that exam for students pursuing post graduate courses wifi be conducted in September.
However, imposition of CrPC in the university is creating serious inconveniences to the students.
So, imposition of section 144 of CrPC in the campus should be revoked, he demanded.
As the AMSU head office and the road opposite to it leads to DM College of Arts, DM College of Commerce, DM College of Science and Hindi Teachers Training College, numerous students studying in these colleges have been affected and many of them are reluctant to attend class fearing occurrence of violent incident.
If the conflict does not end then it may affect the academic process of the students and may even derail their academic career, Roshan cautioned, while urging the government to bring a solution regarding the matter.
