Advocate Tejkumar enlightened the session on the topic of "Drug and Domestic Violence" .
RK Ibungosana pointed out that NCB was set up by the Central Government in 1985 with the sole objective of preventing drug trafficking which is posing a great threat to the society.
Tejkumar stated that the Indian law has enough provisions to punish criminals and drug abusers, but there is a suspicion that the Indian government might be trying to suppress the Manipuri youths by allowing influx of large consignment of drugs into the state.
The male youths of the State are now in a state of psychological suppression as they are being killed either in armed conflict or drug abuse.
This adversity would also affect the females of the state, he noted.
Tejkumar also appealed to the women to come forward to seek legal aid at Cheirap Court if they are facing domestic violence at the hands of their abusive male counterparts.
Dr Angomcha also stressed on the harmful effects of drug abuse that can have a serious implication on the overall development and progress of the State.
Today's awareness programme was the 47th programme of its kind conducted by AMADA in collaboration with local clubs and organizations in different parts of the State.
Around 150 people participated in the awareness programme.
