Imphal, October 13 2012:
Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has made it clear that it does not approve ZCF's plan of erecting a monolith called 'Nguiba-Tusom at Makuilongdi village in Senepati district as ZCF has neither consulted nor take its consent.
In a statement, General Secretary of ZU (AMN) K Poushinglung pointed out that President of ZU (AMN) received the printed programme of ZCF in which the name of ZU President (Amu Kamei) was printed as one of the speakers without the knowledge and consent of the President.
Moreover, ZCF or any other body from outside Makuilongdi village cannot perform such an important act of erecting monolith within the area without the knowledge and consent of the ZU (AMN).
The union holds the authority over the village, particularly in matters of traditional and cultural importance of the community.
Poushinglung also asked the people of the village and or anyone from Zeme, Liangmei, Rongmei and Puimei section/parts of Makuilongdi village to take prior consent of the ZU (AMN) before going for such important traditional and cultural rite, which concern the Zeliangrong people.
The unilateral act of the ZCF has hurt the sentiments of Guangphuning (Oklong) Village, which is one of the most ancient villages guarding the land and area of ancient Makuilongdi for about 2000 years.
