Imphal, November 12 2015:
The JAC constituted against the closure of Pong Lambi has once again urged the State Government to immediately open the road by dismantling the eastern fencing of JNIMS complex.
In a statement, the JAC said that Pong Lambi existed even before the establishment of Jawaharlal Nehru hospital in 1989 .
Rebutting Chief Minister Okram Ibobi's assertion that the road had been closed to meet the guidelines of MCI, the JAC asked the Government to properly study MCI's Establishment of Medical College Regulation 1999 (Amendment upto August 2014) .
The JAC said that the guidelines regarding characteristics and availability of public transport in a medical college are clearly mentioned in the said MCI regulation.
The JAC observed that there would no disturbance to ladies and boys hostels and ATC/OPD with the opening of the road as these blocks are located strategically with adequate security.
Moreover, people of the eastern localities would be convenienced in reaching the hospital on time with the opening of the road, the JAC said.
It also welcomed Khurai AC MLA Ng Bijoy's opinion that roads from all sides leading to the hospital must be opened.
The JAC also lauded social worker L Sushildro for announcing his plan to write to the Centre demanding opening of Long Lambi.
