Education fosters honesty, kindness: Khemchand

Keeping faith in the transformative influence of education, MAHUD minister Y Khemchand has affirmed that through the blessings of education, the virtues of honesty and kindness will thrive.
Speaking as chief guest during a career counselling programme and felicitation of meritorious students organised by Ngakrabam Leirak Development Association, Chingamathak on Wednesday, Khemchand noted that the capacity of education to nurture virtues like honesty and kindness is evident in the educational systems of South East Asian countries.
Consequently, education transcends mere acquisition of knowledge and certificates and it is the duty of students to strive to adopt this principle.
Furthermore, it is imperative that we guide the current generation of students towards the path of righteousness, he stressed.
The minister also commended Ngakrabam Leirak Development Association for organising such events to inspire students and expressed optimism that the association would sustain such endeavours in the future.
Presided over by Ngakrabam Leirak Development Association president Nameirakpam Tomba Singh, the function was also attended by association advisor Laitonjam Tombi, retired engineer Hijam Ibohal and social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram as guests of honour.
On the occasion, students of Ngakrabam Leikai who secured first division marks in the recently declared class X and XII examinations were presented with gifts.
