Kangpokpi, January 12 2025:
The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has strongly condemned the ongoing indefinite blockade imposed by Konsakhul villagers on the vital road connecting Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.
The road, a crucial lifeline for the Kuki-Zo community, has been rendered inaccessible due to a land dispute with Leilon Vaiphei village.
In a statement, CoTU described the blockade as "regrettable and entirely uncalled for" .
Since the violent unrest of May 3, 2023, the community has been striving to establish reliable connectivity among its areas.
The blockade is an unjust disruption that exacerbates their struggles and poses a humanitarian crisis, CoTU said, and reiterated its appeal to the Konsakhul villagers to reconsider their stance arid lift the blockade immediately.
The Committee also cautioned that in case of failure to respond positively to its humble appeal then Konsakhul shall have to bear for any unwanted incidents arising out of the provocative action.
The Committee has also called for unity and urged all parties to prioritise peaceful resolution and humanitarian values in addressing disputes.
