Imphal, December 11 2019: MLA Soibam Subhashchandra embarked on an inspection trip of the development activities taken up under MGNREGS at Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC today.

Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the trip, the MLA said that today's inspection was organised after getting complaints from the people that construction of pucca drains and retaining walls at the AC under MGNREGS have not been taken up well/properly.

Admitting that he has witnessed many of the works not being upto the standard, he urged the concerned Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat authorities to exercise caution while performing the construction works and to do the needful at the earliest.

He also cautioned that Zilla Parishads and Gram Panchayat which fail to perform ethically can be phased out under the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act 1994 .

MGNREGS District Programme Officer, Imphal West, Imphal West Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, BDO Hiyangthang and other staff were also present during the trip.
