Imphal, September 11 2024:
Observing that the separate movements launched by various organisations, each pursuing their own individual initiatives, have failed to achieve their objectives and meet the demands of the people despite sharing common goals and ideals, Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) emphasised the necessity for civil society organisations to unite and adopt a new, effective, and non-violent strategy to fulfil the demands of the people.
In a release, FOCS secretary information & public relations Nerish Mangang stated that Qhin-Kuki-Zo terrorist has been launching attacks on Meeteis and attempting to disrupt the integrity of Manipur for the last 16 months and spreading propaganda on national media to mislead the Meeteis.
He reminded the drone bombing and missile attacks killing innocent civilians and injuring many others by Kuki militants recently.
Furious over the failure to protect the lives and properties, students, CSOs and people launched protest demanding resignation of security advisor Kuldiep Singh and DGP and to hand over unified command chairman to chief minister.
The reason for such demands is because of the continuous attacks towards Meetei innocent civilian while giving a free hand-towards Chin-Kuki-Zo terrorist, where central forces remained as a mute spectator.
He stressed the need for uniting the civil society organisations for launching a unified movement and further appealed for joint talks and discussions.
Nerish lauded Ministry of Home Affairs for considering the demands of the people by withdrawing two Assam Rifles battalions from Manipur.
