Imphal, November 10 2013: An active member of proscribed PREPAK was arrested by a team of Imphal East Police Commandos during a search operation from Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Crossing on November 8 at around 5.30 pm.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Pebam Premjit Singh alias Manaocha alias Pari (26), s/o (late) P Nabachandra of Mongshangei Makha Leikai.

He joined the outfit in March, 2011 through one Baby of Kongba and presently working under Chamba for extortion, said a release of SP Imphal East.

A team of Imphal East district police commandos under the supervision of M Rajen Singh, Additional SP (Ops) also reportedly arrested two RPF/PLA cadres from Singjamei Kshetri Leikai near PPIYDO Club at during a mobile frisking at around 9.30 am yesterday.

According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East Kamei Angam Romanus, the arrested cadres have been identified Nongmeikapam Shanta Singh alias Senapati alias Ranger (34) s/o N Yeka Singh of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai and Sansam Jilangamba Singh alias Naoba alias Bulu (36) s/o Sanasam Modhuchandra Singh of Kakwa Ningomthongjao Awang Leikai.

Two mobile phones with two SIM cards were also recovered from their possession.

On verification, it was learned that Shanta joined RPF/PLA through one Ithoi in 1999 and got army no.1517 while Jilangamba joined the same organisation through one Kumar in 1996 and he is presently working under the command of one S/S Lt Jayenta alias Malei, who is the DRO-I (District Revenue Officer-1) .

Further, the arrested duo disclosed that they have exhorted a huge amount of money from schools, colleges, gas agencies, oil pumps, etc.
