Imphal, October 10 2019:
Three pairs of Sangais presently kept at Sangai Breeding Centre, Langol Reserved Forest would be shifted to Manipur Zoological Garden so that visitors to the zoo can see them.
As the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Central Zoo Authority have given their consent, the State Forest Department would take three pairs of Sangai to Iroishemba Zoological Garden with technical assistance from the Wildlife Institute of India.
One expert from the Wildlife Institute of India will arrive here on October 16 to oversee translocation of the six Sangais from the Sangai Breeding Centre to Iroishemba Zoological Garden.
Notably, there is a spacious enclosure at Iroishemba Zoological Garden specially reserved for Sangai.
