Surbala, Kulendra JACs sign pacts

The family of Ngangbam Surbala of Phayeng Umang Leikai, who was killed in a drone bomb attack by Kuki militants in Koutruk village, claimed her body from RIMS morgue along with the JAC formed in connection with her death and carried out the last rites at Phayeng on Monday.
In this regard, JAC convenor Ningthoujam Popilal condemned the lack of interest on the part of the central and state governments in putting an end to the conflict till date.
He then informed that Surbala's body was claimed after an agreement was signed with the state government that additional state forces would be deployed in vulnerable areas in and around Phayeng.
On the other-hand, the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Yurembam Kulendra of Ningthem Khul (Nungchapi), Jiribam by Kuki militants on September 7 morning reached an.
understanding with the Jiribam deputy commissioner subsequent to which his bereaved family agreed to claim the body.
Jiribam DC Krishna Kumar chaired a meeting with JAC representatives at his office Monday in the presence of SP, additional SP and SDC.
During the meeting, it was agreed upon that investigating authority will intensify probe to nab the culprits involved in the killing and approach government for providing ex-gratia as per rules to the next to kin of the deceased.
Further, both sides agreed to claim the body of the deceased man and perform last rites.
