MUC upgrade proposal set to be placed before Union Cabinet

Imphal, September 09 2021: Union minister of culture G Kishan Reddy has assured of bringing up the demand for upgrading Manipur University of Culture (MUC) into a central university for discussion in the union cabinet.

Titular king of Manipur and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba called on the union minister on Wednesday afternoon at the latter's office in the national capital to discuss the demand.

During the discussion, the minister told the titular king that the matter would need to be tabled before the union cabinet, and then assured of initiating relevant process for tabling the same in the cabinet.

He also informed the MP to visit Manipur in October this year.

Later, the Rajya Sabha MP called on union minister of state for education Dr RK Ranjan and discussed the matter and they both agreed on taking up necessary measures for upgrading the university into a central institute.

Manipur University of Culture vice-chancellor professor Paonam Gunindro and media advisor of the MP Maisnam Shivadutta Luwang accompanied the titular king during these meetings with the ministers.

Leishemba Sanajaoba presented traditional shawls to the two union ministers.
