Imphal, April 09 2019: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condoled the untimely demise of veteran politician Holkhomang Haokip.

The Chief Minister conveyed that Holkhomang Haokip was elected for the first time to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 1972 and he served as Minister in various Governments till 1995.Later Holkhomang was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 and remained as Member of Committee on Urban and Rural Development and the Consultative Committee of Ministry of Home Affairs, the CM added.

The Chief Minister continued that Holkhomang worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the people of the State and added that on his demise, the State has lost an accomplished politician and a great public leader and his absence will leave a huge void in the political circle of the State.

The CM conveyed deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.

On the other hand, MPCC has also condoled the untimely demise of Holkho- mang Haokip.

MPCC president Gaikha-ngam stated that Holkhomang's demise has left a huge void in the State.
