KCP cadre arrested, weapons recovered, poppy destroyed

Security forces arrested a cadre of banned outfit, Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) with weapons from Thangal Bazar area on Saturday.
According to a press release issued by the Manipur Police Control Room on Saturday, Manipur police rescued two people from getting abducted in Thangal Bazar area and arrested a cadre of banned KCP (Taibanganba) involved in the incident.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Tensubam Bangk-im alias Punshiba alias Chak-thekpa of Nambol Laitonjam Makha Leikai.
Police recovered one 9mm pistol with seven live rounds and a Maruti Gypsy from his possession.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered a huge cache of weapons while conducting a search operation in L Jangnomphai in Kangpokpi district on Saturday.
The seized weapons included one 7.62 mm sniper rifle, three pistols, one 303 bolt action rifle, five 36 hand grenade, five Stardyne 90 explosive, four electric detonators, two 9mm rounds, five 7.62mm rounds, five .22 rounds, four 7.65 rounds, three 303 rounds, three arming rings, one rubber round, one mini flare cartridge, five anti-riot shells 5 and one Baofeng radio set.
Another release informed that a combined team of Manipur police, forest department and executive magistrate concerned destroyed a 1-acre area of poppy plantation in Mao Punding area under Mao PS on Saturday.
Legal action has also been initiated against the chairman of the village.
On the other hand, a team of Manipur police conducted an operation in Khamason Range of Ukhrul district on December 6 and 7, and arrested four people involved in poppy cultivation.
They arrested persons are Peimi Ramsak (27), Lightson Shimrah (49), Kapangkhui Khashim and Yatei SV (22) .
Police also recovered one air gun and two knives from their possession.
The team also identified an area of poppy plantation spanning around 30-acres.
