Three held with drugs

Imphal, June 08 2022:
Imphal West district police commando apprehended three people in separate instances for peddling and smuggling drugs.
According to a report, a team of Imphal West District Commando conducted a frisking and checking operation at North AOC around 2pm on Wednesday, wherein they arrested two people peddling drugs in front of Tampha Hotel.
Around 460 gm of heroin packed in 36 soap cases, two mobile phones, one luggage packed with clothes, two Aadhaar cards, Rs 1000 in cash, 3 ATM cards, one PAN card and one Voter ID were seized from the possession of the two arrested people, identified as T Paolenlal Haokip (24) s/o (L) Togin of Tuibong village and Jangkholen Haokip (27) s/o (L) Thengkhopao Haokip of Mongjang village, Chakpikarong.
On questioning, the duo revealed that they had come from Churachandpur to Imphal on Wednesday and were planning to take the heroin to Shillong.
Both the arrested people and the seized drugs have been handed over to Imphal PS for further course of action.
Meanwhile, another team of Imphal West District Commando arrested a man with 30,000 WY tablets, another report conveyed.
The arrested man has been identified as Md Abdul Gafar (35) s/o Abdul Zalil of Kwakta Sevla Ward No 3 .
As per the report, the team seized the WY tablets from a bus (AS-01FC 3699) near North AOC GST office around 1pm on Wednesday.
The driver of the bus, Md Abdul Gafar was arrested on the spot.
During questioning, Md Abdul Gafar revealed that the drugs were to be transported to Guwahati, for which he would be paid Rs 30,000 as carrier charge.
He has been handed over to Imphal PS for further legal action, the report added.
