NPF-BJP-NPP tie-up curious topic for many: Awangbow

Even though mass campaigns are yet to begin in district headquarters, official campaign for Kachui Timothy Zimik, the NPF candidate for Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency for the 18th Lok Sabha election kicked on April 4 at New Canaan village in Ukhrul district.
During launch of official campaign for Timothy Zimik, water resources minister and NPF Manipur president Awangbow New-mai noted the historic alliance of NPF-BJP-NPP under the banner of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is a curious topic for many people.of the state.
Naga People's Front (NPF) is a political party for the Nagas with a belief 'Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God,' as mentioned in the Romans 13-1, said Awangbow addressing the gathering at the campaign launch function.
According to Awangbow Newmai, NPF tried its best to bring peace, prosperity and love and understanding among all the communities ever since the launch of the party in Manipur.
With this agenda, the party is contesting the Lok Sabha election with Timothy Zimik as sole candidate, he said.
In his address, Timothy Zimik emphasised the need for peace and development in the state and called upon all the communities for mutual respect and sincerity to solve problems.
"We must work together irrespective of communities to bring peace, prosperity and inclusive development," he said adding that he is committed to bringing peace in Manipur.
According to Timothy Zimik, social justice and economic uplift both in the hills and valley are required to make Manipur a vibrant state.
He also expressed regret that people of the state remain divided on ideological, ethnic and political lines for too long.
NPF central general secretary and Nagaland MLA Achumbemo Kikon, who also attended the event, said that official election campaign kick-off programme for Timothy Zimik marks a new relationship between the Nagas and other communities living in Manipur.
It is not just a political gathering but a gathering of like-minded people of various communities, especially the Nagas and Meeteis, he added.
According to Kikon, NPF came into being from October 21, 1963 and the party has sustained for the past six decades as the second oldest regional party in India and the oldest in the Northeast India.
Ever since its formation, NPF has not looked back and stood the test of times.
NPF is not just a political party but a people's movement, he added.
Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei and many leaders of NPF also attended and addressed the gathering.
