Worker's family alleges harassment by Army

The family members of 26-year-old Md Sukur of Mayang Imphal Chirai Awang Leikai has alleged that Sukur (a menial labourer) was harassed by the personnel of 18-Sikh Regiment after he was arrested from his home.
Talking to media persons today at Mayang Imphal, Sukur's father Junab Ali said that his son works as a menial labourer at Shamu Makhong.
He was arrested by 18-Sikh Regiment from his home on the intervening night of January 4 and 5.No incriminating document or object was recovered from his possession at the time of arrest, but the Army handed him to Mayang Imphal Police as an active member of PULF along with a country-made 9mm pistol with three live rounds.
Sukur was beaten black and blue while he was in the custody of the Sikh Regiment.
He got injured severely on his head.
A surrenderee accompanied the Army personnel at the time of Sukur's arrest.
Sukur was arrested due to some personal enmity with the surrenderee identified as Bogimayum Taikundo (26) of Irong Makha Leikai, Junab asserted.
