Revolutionary salute given to martyred Sergeant Heithoiba

The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) led by Pambei paid revolutionary salute to Sergeant Baspatimayum Heithoiba, who laid his life during a gun-battle while defending the motherland (Manipur) from the enemy at Jiribam on Saturday, and deeply condoled demise of the cadre.
According to a UNLF statement issued by media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom, Sergeant Baspatimayum Heithoiba alias Lakshikumar was born as first among three sons of Baspatimayum Samson and Prama of Dibong, Jiribam on October 10, 1986.Grown up as a patriotic person, Heithoiba joined UNLF in the year 2002 to take part outfit's movement for restoration of the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
He passed Basic Military Training (BMT) of MPA in the 24th batch and allotted service No 1528 in the year 2002 .
After completing BMT, Heithoiba was posted to 292 Bn also known as the then MTF of MPA from 2002 to 2005 and took part in many battles against IOF.
He was transferred to 242 Bn in 2005 and then to 293 Bn in 2006 .
During the posting at 293 Bn, Heithoiba took part in many battles fought when IOF launched Operation Somtal-I and Operation Somtal-II .
In the year 2011, Heithoiba was posted to MPA's 291Bn in Eastern Nagaland and recently posted to Jiribam to execute the responsibility shouldered to him by the party.
In the early Saturday morning, the party received an information about the killing of an innocent civilian by immigrants armed with assault rifles.
Immediately, some party cadres commanded by Sergeant Heithoiba reacted swiftly and launched counter-attack.
In the first gun-battle, the group commanded by Sergeant Heithoiba defeated the enemy.
While moving further to completely defeat the enemy, Sergeant Heithoiba was hit by a bullet fired by the enemy and died at the spot at about 9.30am, the UNLF statement said.
Sergeant Heithoiba is survived by wife and three daughters, the youngest being only six months old, the statement said and shares pain and grief of the bereaved family, friends and well-wishers.
