Final case disposal postponed to Sept 13

The final disposal of the writ petition filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking disqualification of 12 BJP MLAs who were appointed as parliamentary secretaries on the grounds of being Office of Profit, has again been further extended to September 13.The final disposal of the case was earlier fixed for Tuesday.
Previously, a double bench of the apex had transferred the case to a 3-judge bench in connection with the final hearing and verdict of the case.
Although the case was listed for hearing, it was not taken up.
On Tuesday, the case was listed as item no.14 in the cause list for the bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao, BR Gavai and BV Nagarathna.
However, the case was not heard and instead, the final disposal was scheduled for September 13.Mention may be made here the Supreme Court had taken up the writ petition (civil) case no 151-2021 filed by Congress MLA DD lhaisii; the Special Leave Petition (Civil) case no, 2001-2005-2021 Med by the Manipur Government and the SLP (Civil) case no 2386-2390-2021 filed by Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro together since they are of similar nature and fixed the final hearing of the case on August 26 .
However, a double bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Aniruddha Bose could not hear the case owing to paucity of time.
BJP MLAs L Susindro (Khurai), N Indrajit (Kshetrigao), L Rameshwor (Keirao), Th Satyabrata (Yaiskul), H Dingo (Sekmai), Dr S Ranjan (Konthoujam), S Subashchandra (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa), who has since resigned from the Assembly, K Robindro (Mayang Imphal), Leishiyo Keishing (Phungyar), Khasim Vashum (Chingai), Awangbow Newmai (Tamei) and Asab Uddin (Jiribam) were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries.
It may be further noted that the High Court of Manipur had announced a judgment, categorically stating that the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (Appointment, Salary and Allowances and Miscellaneous Provision) Act, 2012 and the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (Appointment, Salary and Allowances and Miscellaneous Provision) Repealing Act 2018 were unconstitutional and invalid.
