Haobijam Surjit Meitei (36) of Luwangshangbam and Karam Tanya (29) of Kanto Sabal Leimakhong of Imphal West district, who are both land right activists, will take part in the Jai Jagat 2020- a one year global march for justice and peace, which is set to kick off from October 2.Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, convenor of Jai Jagat 2020 Coordination Committee Manipur, Rishikanta Sharma said that the global peace march will begin from New Delhi and wrap up at Geneva, Switzerland after passing through 10 countries, all the while organising non-violence trai- ning and events along the way.
He continued that ten other representatives from Manipur will be participating in the Geneva Action Forum, which will be held from September 25 to October 2, 2020 .
He said that Geneva city and Canton will be welcoming 500 marchers for the week-long Geneva Action Forum.
Rishikanta said that around 10,000 representatives from different parts of the world will be participating in the Jai Jagat 2020 .
A significant part of the Jai Jagat 2020 will be a protest demonstration in front of the World Bank by the participants, demanding a stop to investing in arms and ammunitions, nuclear power or nuclear deal etc.
The global peach march will pass through Iran (35 days), Armenia (41 days), Georgia (37 days), Bulgaria (4 days), Serbia (25 days), Bosnia and Herzegovina (21 days), Croatia (7 days), Italy (42 days)
and Switzerland (20 days) .
