Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai distributed pension for the first phase of the Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme to 10 pensioners at her office chamber today.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister said that the old-aged persons have not been getting pension amount since the past many years.
However, they would no longer face this inconvenience now, she added.
In this first phase, a pensioner would get Rs 200 per month from March 2013 to February 2015, the Minister said.
Saying that black and green pension card holders would receive Rs 4800 for two years while white card holders would get Rs 3400 for 17 months, the Minister said that pension amount would be distributed in all the districts through the officers concerned of the Social Welfare Department.
She appealed to all the pensioners to bring three colour passport size photos, xerox copies of voter ID card and Adhaar card.
The pensioners, who have opened bank accounts under direct transfer system, must bring bank passbooks, she added.
For the pensioners of Imphal East and Imphal West districts, pension amount would be distributed at 1st MR ground from 8 am on April 10 .
For other districts, the same would be distributed at district headquarters and nearby police stations.
Saying that the pensioners, who have lost their pension cards, may submit necessary documents to the District Social Welfare Officers, the Minister said that new pension cards would be issued after conducting a spot enquiry.
She further said that her Department is planning to arrange bringing pension amount at the doorsteps for the pensioners, who are unable to come at the given venues.
The Minister said that Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension scheme would begin implementation after the time period for Manipur Old Age Pension scheme ends.
