Imphal, March 07 2012: A non-Manipuri was found killed and abandoned in Loktak Lake near Khoijuman area yesterday by local fishermen.

The body was recovered early this morning by Bishnupur police.

The body has been picked up and kept at the mortuary of RIMS.

The body was found covered by Phumdis in Loktak Lake when some of the villagers of Khoijuman area went for fishing in the lake yesterday afternoon.

After being informed by the villagers, a police team came to the area and searched for the body till late last night but could not trace it.

The Bishnupur Police resumed search since 4.30 am today and succeeded in locating the body at around 7am. The victim has been identified as one Saji (35).He was said to be a mentally retarded person.

His residence is not known but it has been reported that he used to roam from one place to another and recently came back from Kohima and was staying at Bishnupur.

His body was found with both his hands and legs tight with a rope from behind.
