Skill training for IDPs begins in Thoubal

Imphal, November 06 2024:
Thoubal district deputy commissioner A Subhash Singh and assistant commissioner Arvind Hanglem jointly inaugurated a 10-day intensive training programme at Rice Research Centre, Khangabok on Wednesday for IDPs residing in relief camps in the district.
The training programme, organised in collaboration with BOHO Manipur under the theme 'Rebuilding Lives', and funded by Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) will impart lessons on tailoring and marketing to internally displaced persons.
The project was introduced as a part of livelihood development project by Arvind Hanglem during his district attachment.
Under the project, an MoU was also signed between Thoubal district administration and BOHO Manipur to create employment opportunities for the IDPs, offering them sustainable livelihoods, empowerment and dignity.
Speaking at the event, Arvind Hanglem exuded confidence that the training programme will empower the IDPs, especially the womenfolk who have been impacted the most by the violence, and help them cope with the hardships to some extent.
He also stated that fostering work culture through livelihood generation aligns with his vision of empowering Manipur.
The programme was also attended by BOHO Manipur's Padmini Konsam, Bini ta Laishram and Luxmibai Soubam.
