CCpur, October 06 2021:
Paite Tribe Council (PTC), Lungthul Block organised a block meet cum concert at Suangdoh village community hall on Wednesday.
Janata Dal state president and ex-MLA/minister T Hangkhanpau attended the event as chief guest while Janata Dal state general secretary Dinesh was the special guest.
The event was also attended by former Lungthul area MDC G Suanchinpau, Zomi Youth Association president Thangsianbiak, PTC leader Chinkhan-suan besides Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP), general headquarters president Thanglalmuan.
During his speech, T Hangkhanpau declared his intention of contesting from Singhat AC in the 2022 elections and further disclosed that Janata Dal will held candidates in 10 assembly constituencies and the party expects to win at least seven seats.
He said that Singhat continues to be one of the least developed ACs of the state though some changes have been brought in recent past.
Merely execution of some development works does not mean that real progress has been made and one needs to know how safe the people and their lands are.
This happens when an MLA does not dare to raise voices against any policies and propose legislation regarding their lands and properties which are deemed to be certainly detrimental for his people, he said, adding that now the people feel insecure the MLA only runs for contract works.
He said that money for contract works come from the coffer of the government and it is not the personal property of the elected representative.
Ex-MDC G Suanchinpau stated that all the roads in Guite Kual (areas) were constructed and electricity connection provided by Hangkhanpau during his tenure as MLA and expressed appreciation to the former MLA.
The Suangdoh village chief further said people do not want any MLA who will only play with development funds but also lead them to lose their land and property.
This is not politics, he said and stressed on the need to elect those who will be able to protect them.
Chinkhansuan reminded members from all 16 units who took part in the event to be faithful on their leaders
and lands.
