Imphal, May 06 2015 :
Molnoi Area Welfare Council (MAWC) and Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA) Tengnoupal on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack on Lai Haraoba devotees at Pallel that led to the killing of a devotee and injuring four others in the strongest term.
The organizations said they viewed the incident as the handiwork of anti-social elements aimed at destroying social harmony and peaceful co-existence in the areas and term it as "direct attack on secularism" .
In a joint press note, KCA President Thangbul Haokip and MAWC Chairman Thonghem Haokip appealed all not to put the blame on all tribals of the area or the whole Aimol population but specifically to the villagers of Aimol Satu and Chingnunghut in the interest of peace and harmony.
KCA and MAWC said culprits have to comply with the demands of the victim's family/JAC by paying ex-gratia and adequate compensation at the earliest in order to diffuse crisis.
The two organizations said they were ready to assist the victim party in any possible way.
They appealed the Government to promptly intervene and bring a lasting solution to the problem in the interest of the common people.
MAWC and KCA will work ceaselessly for peace and harmony, promote and uphold peaceful co-existence of all communities of the area, said the press note.
