Imphal, February 06 2021: Expressing the need for a retrial at a higher Court following the recent acquittal of former ADC Chairman, Lhukhosei Zou, the Friends Union Club, Khongnang Pheidekpi; Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Khongnang Pheidekpi and Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) unit jointly organised a sit in protest at Khongnang Pheidekpi in Imphal West district, today.

Addressing the gathering, Premchand Salam, secretary drive of CADA mentioned that the State Government's "War on Drug'' has become a joke with the Government not yet taking the case to a higher Court.

It is rather unfortunate that the State Government has remained silent so far amidst all the agitations and protests carried out by various CSOs and Meira Paibi Lups of the State, he said.

Premchand Salam further expressed concern over the increasing cases of drug abuse.

Slogans including 'do not demean war on drugs', 'award befitting punishments to drug smugglers' etc were raised at the end of the protest.
