Cong rule dominated by heinous crimes: A Sharda

Imphal, December 05 2021:
It was the brave mothers of the state who bared their bodies and souls and made the Assam Rifles leave Kangla Fort.
So, no political party has the right to claim credit on this matter, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi has stated.
She was speaking during a one-day political conference organised by Singjamei BJP Mandal at Oinam Thinungei on Sunday.
Sharda contended that the rule of Congress government was associated with the rape and murder of Lungnila Elizabeth and other heinous cases like that of the case of Thangjam Manorama.
Such incidents prompted the brave mothers of the state to rise up, bare their bodies and souls to expel Assam Rifles from Kangla Fort.
This cannot be refuted by anyone and no political party has the right to take credit for the courage and determination displayed by the mothers.
The hearts of women are sincere and selfless.
Politics should stay far away from it, she contended.
Dissuading all to stop thinking they can win the 2022 election with money power, she questioned what fruitful work Congress had done in its 15-year reign.
She further questioned which political party has stood by its pre-poll promises to serve the people, like BJP has done.
She then mentioned Singjamei AC MLA and speaker Y Khem-chand's contributions and services to humanity during the Covid-19 pandemic such as being wholeheartedly responsible for the quarantine centre of Singjame AC.
In his speech, speaker Y Khemchand asserted that he won the last elections because of the incompetency of his predecessor.
He then said that Singjamei AC is slowly becoming known in terms of development, while adding that he has never taken money for any of the development projects undertaken in the constituency.
Urging people to elect candidates who are sincere and hardworking, the speaker lamented that the unofficial qualification for contesting the election is based on how much money one has.
It would be unfortunate to hand over the helms of state affairs to those who have suddenly come forward to contest the polls after earning some quick money, as their goal is, in reality, to amass more wealth from the people.
He then urged the denizens of Singjamei to take a proactive role in curbing corruption and bringing about a new Manipur.
The conference was also attended by MLA Karam Shyam, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda Meitei and ex-IMC mayor L Lokeshwor.
