'Government not fulfilling Heirok incident promises'

Imphal, December 05 2011:
The state government has allegedly not fulfilled its promises made to the family members of the three victims who died in a shot out incident which occurred during a Thabal Chongba at Heirok on March 24, 2008 .
Addressing at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, L Bishwarjit, brother of Late Nirmala, one of the victims in the Heirok incident said that as promised, the state government had started building a Community Hall at the tomb of the deceased persons at Heirok, but all works have now stopped.
Till date the Community hall has not been completed.
The promise to give government services to the family members of the deceased has not been fulfilled
till date.
In protest against the government's failure to comply with the promises made, the people of Heirok will stage a sit in protest at Heirok part II tomorrow.
If the government still remains silent on the issue, the people of Heirok will be compelled to take up all various forms of agitations.
He further said pamphlets mentioning all the misdoing of the government regarding employment opportunities, educational facilities and PDS items etc have been dispersed by the family members of the two female victims who died in the incident.
The pamphlets have also reached the local MLA.
Thokchom Mohen and Laishram Thambou of the victim families were also present on the occasion.
