Fire Service saves 15 people, properties worth Rs 13 crore

As many as 234 fire incidents occurred in the State from April, 2012 to March, 2013 in which properties about Rs.11 crore were gutted by the fire.
However, on a commendable note, the fire-fighters of Manipur Fire Service could save lives of 15 people and properties worth about Rs 13 crore during the fire incidents.
According to reports obtained from the State Fire Service, the 234 incidents included fire at residential buildings/houses, shops, schools, offices, vehicles, LPG store and forest fire.
There are altogether 15 Sub Fire Stations (SFS) and one Fire Station located at various strategic locations of the State.
Imphal Fire Station handled 105 fire incidents from April, 2012 to March, 2013 which claimed properties worth about Rs.six crore.
The fire-fighters of Imphal Fire Station also saved properties worth about Rs.seven crore during the incidents.
There were 32 fire incidents under Thoubal SFS, seven under Mayang Imphal SFS, 17 under Bishnupur SFS, eight under Jiribam SFS, four under Ukhrul SFS, 12 under Moirang SFS, four under Kangpokpi SFS, 15 under Kakching SFS, six under Chandel SFS, 16 under Churachandpur SFS, two under Singhat SFS, three under Senapati SFS, two under Moreh SFS and only one incident under Sugnu SFS.
Manipur Fire Service has strength of 281 fire-fighters with 44 fire tenders, six rapid response vehicles and three water tenders.
