Man arrested for extorting money from truck driver masquerading as policeman

Jiribam, June 03 2019: Acting on a credible information that some unknown miscreants were extorting money from the truck drivers at Leingangpokpi village near a local shop namely 'Thoibi Dukan' by posing themselves as police personnel, a police team led by SI N Jayantakumar Singh, in-charge Leingangpokpi Police Outpost rushed at the spot and apprehended a person for detaining a truck masquerading as policemen and for extorting money from the truck drivers, said a press release issued by Addl SP (Ops), Jiribam Police.

It mentioned that the arrested man has been identified as Md Nazir Husen (28) s/o Riyaz Uddin of Lalong Part-IV, PS-Lakhipur, Cachar, Assam and was handed over to Jiribam Police Station.

A case has been registered at Jiribam Police Station for further investigation, it added.
