Kanggui, February 02 2014: A committee christened as Gunhom River Protection Committee has been formed on January 25 to protect and safeguard the river flowing through Gunhom areas located in between Taphou Kuki and Luwangsanggol-Kanglatongbi.

Sonkhomang, Chief of Luwangsanggol and Nehkam Kipgen have also been respectively elected as Chairman and Gen.Secy.of the newly formed Committee while Tongpao, Chairman of Keithelmanbi Village and Henpao of Phailen Village as Vice Chairman and Joint Secretary respectively.

Henkhokai, Chief of Chalbung, Kamlen of Sapormeina, Nehtinthang of N.Songlung, Haominthang Chief of Phaileng, Seiboi chief of Phoibi, Kamlet chief of Gunphaijang and Tinsei chief of L.Gunphai were also elected as members of the committee.

Meanwhile, Nehkam Kipgen, Gen Secy of the Committee has appealed to the public to render their fullest cooperation to the committee for the protection and development of the river.
