NPO suspends driving curbs

Post the assurance given by Senapati district administration to effectively implement conditions of the MoU signed between district CSOs and state government, the Naga People's Organization (NPO), grievance cell has suspended its proposed restrictions on certain drivers.
Announcing suspension of the proposed restriction, the NPO cell said in a statement that the proposed agitation restricting driving permissions for Naga, Meitei Pangal, Nepali and non-local drivers which was slated to begin from December 2, has been put on hold, following an appeal by the district administration.
The statement informed that the decision was preceded by a meeting held at the office chamber of DC Senapati, which was attended by representatives of NPO grievance cell, truck owners' association and Drivers' Union, Senapati.
During the meeting, grievances of the drivers and the truck owners were thoroughly discussed with the district administration assuring to implement conditions outlined in MoU signed on November 15.However, any inordinate delay from the government to implement conditions of the MoU shall compel the grievances cell to initiate a democratic agitation, the statement warned.
