For integrity

Imphal, October 31 2019:
Advisor of Kuki Women Union, Manipur, Rose Mangsi Haokip has conveyed that no community can claim any land of Manipur as theirs only, warning that the people will take a concrete and defiant stand if the solution to the Naga peace talks between the Centre and the NSCN (IM) compromise the integrity of the State.
She made the statement during a public alert sit in protest organised at Tribal Market, New Checkon today, under the aegis of COCOMI and Imphal Valley Kukis.
Speaking to media persons, Rose Mangsi said that the people of Manipur are ready to face any challenge if the Naga peace talks compromise the integrity of Manipur in any way.
Warning against taking any decisions which will hurt the sentiments of the people, she claimed that a separate flag and Constitution for the Nagas demanded by the NSCN (IM) are totally against the law of the land.
If they are given their flag and Constitution, they are free to implement those in Nagaland, but not in any part of Manipur, she said, adding that these arrangements will not be acceptable in any form in Kuki inhabited areas of Manipur as well.
If the Centre grants the demand of the Nagas, then the Kukis are also demanding Territorial Council in some hill areas of the State.
The demands of the Kukis are not the same as the Nagas, she reasoned.
Coming out strongly against the demands of the Nagas, Rose Mangsi said that if the demands are indeed fulfilled by the Centre, it will only invite the ire of other communities.
Manipur has been settled by various communities which have been living together in harmony since the early days.
Manipur is a land which belongs to all the communities and not just a particular one, she said.
