National Saniatation Campaign concludes in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, October 31 2014 : The closing ceremony of the month long "National Sanination Campaign" under Swachh Bharat Mission was held at Shekinuh Inn, Tamenglong District today, organised by Transformation for All Communities Center, Tamenglong sponsored by Tamenglong PHED.

The programme was graced by RH.

Gonmei, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong as chief guest.

Joseph Pauline, ADM, Tamenglong and L.Poucharei Rongmei, Member Secretary DWSC Tamenglong & EE PHED Tamenglong as guest of honour and president of the function respectively.

In his speech as chief guest, RH Gonmei, IAS, said that thought people here today organised closing ceremony of National Sanination Campaign but it has to be continue another four years as announced by Priminister of India, Narendra Modi.

Remembering the father of the nation, MK Gandhi, RH Gonmei said that Gandhiji had a vision to clean India as cleanliness is next to God.

He also appealed to give full cooperation in organising such campaign in the future.

Speaking as guest of honour, Joseph Pauline, ADM Tamenglong mentioned here that sanitation campaign is one of the millennium goals of UNO.

However, in India it is not fully impmented as there are many different in table works and ground reality.

Joseph Pauline said this Swachh campaign should be life long campaign.

"It is our duty and should clean our compound and surrounding areas to get fresh air.

Clean body also cleans our mind", Joseph added.

In his presidential speech, L.Poucharei Rongmei, EE PHED Tamenglong observed that the mindset of the people should change to development and fight for water.

Tamenglong is going to face acut shortage of water in near future and at present water source is decreasing, he added.

Total sanitation campaign is underprogress to install every house holds a saniation latrine.

This will reduce the pulation of river/ stream in our district, he added.

Ajine AE PHED Tamenglong also spokes on the occasion and narrated month long activities.

During the month long saniation campaign painting competition, toilet Construction competition and village cleanliness competition within Tamenglong Headquarter was held.

In the paiting competition (primary level) Chahuatmei, UBS (United Builders School) Disinthui, UBS Buankhiubou, UBS got first second and third respectively and a sum of Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 for first second and third respectively.

In upper primary leve category, Tajibe of JNV, Katobi of CGS and Kamichung of CGS got first second and third respectively and a sum of Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 for first second and third respectively.

In the toilet construction competition out of 30 participants Lanilung of Namlalong Tamenglong ward No.II bagged first position and award a cash of Rs.8000, Ajiang of Model Village bagged second position and award Rs.7000 and Revichui of Namlalong Tamenglong Ward No.II bagged third position and award a sum of Rs.6000 .

In the village cleanliness competition only three villages participate and in which New Canaan Village bagged fisrt position and award a cash of Rs.30,000 and Namlalong Village bagged second position award of Rs 20,000 and Model Village bagged consolation prize with Rs.2,000 .
