Ukhrul murder case: Another 7-day remand for accused

Ukhrul, June 30 2015 :
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ukhrul on Tuesday remanded the accused in the recent suspected rape and murder of a woman of Ramrei Village of Ukhrul district to police custody for another 7 days
till July 7 .
Litan Police produced the accused Jukeshore Konthoujam (48) of Leikhong Mapal Maning Leikai to the district CJM court at 1 pm on Tuesday.
Ukhrul CJM Pemmila said that this is the second appearance of the accused before the court after a lapse of five days.
She said that the accused was granted 5-day remand on 26 June after Litan Police picked him up on June 24 last.
She further informed that the accused has denied committing the crime.
Meanwhile, IO Alungleng 2nd OC Litan Police has informed that the accused had fully confessed to committing the heinous crime to the police, adding that there is no doubt about it now.
IO further said that the accused Jukeshor who worked as a mason at Ramrei village and had frequently moved in and out of the village during the past two months.
The lifeless body of a 40 year-old woman was found with her neck slit and torture marks in a nearby forest area on June 24 after she went missing for two days.
