Auto driver found murdered, bandh called

Imphal, June 30 2013:
An auto driver was found murdered near Khuman Palli Water Reservoir under Imphal Police Station at around 11 am here today.
The deceased driver has been identified as Laishangbam Deben (45), s/o (late) N Thoiba of Mantripukhri Lamlongei.
He was operating his auto between Heingang and Imphal.
The dead body was found by some persons who came to fetch water from the reservoir.
The police have picked up the body and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS for post-mortem.
Deben sustained deep injuries on his head, possibly hit by some blunt objects.
A case has been registered by the police in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, locals of Lamlongei convened an emergency meeting and formed the JAC Against Brutal Killing of Laishangbam Deben.
The irate locals of Lamlongei Mantripukhri blocked National Highway No.39 demanding the State government to find out the culprits.
The JAC has refused to take the dead body until the culprits are arrested and punished.
The JAC has also announced its decision of calling a bandh along the National Highway 2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road) with effect from 1 pm of July 1 to 6 pm of the following day.
On the other hand, a girl was killed after she was knocked down by a bus along Tiddim Road near the Main Gate of Imphal Airport at around 11.30 am today.
The deceased girl has been identified as Thoudam Dayani (18), d/o Th Yaibi of Patsoi Part-IV .
