Public denounce move to arrest AT, VVs

Mass protest demonstrations were held on Thursday in different parts of the state by local meira paibi groups and youth organisations denouncing the government's alleged move to round up members of Arambai Tenggol (AT) and village volunteers (Ws).
Kwakeithel Apunba Meira Paibi Lup formed human chain at Kwakeithel bazar and reminded the police authorities that AT and village volunteers have been shielding people of Manipur from the aggression by armed Kuki militants.
They also affirmed that mothers of Manipur stand for AT and village volunteers.
Human chain cum sit-in-protests were also organised by meira paibis and local organisations at Lamsang, Taothong, Kongba, Pukhao Ahullup, Khurai, Kshetrigao, Porompat, Sagolmang, Yurembam, Patlou, Laipham Khunou, etc., and adopted various resolutions, including appeal to the state forces to withdraw the arms down protest, not to arrest AT and village volunteer members, and cautioning that mothers of Manipur will take due course of action in case state leaders do not intervene.
Sit-in protests were also staged at Kumbi Keithel, Uchiwa and Khangabok.
Speaking to media persons, Khangabok Apunba Meira Paibi Lup joint secretary Elangbam Sanatombi asserted that they will not accept the government's move of arresting AT volunteers, who have even given up their studies to protect Manipur's integrity.
If the government continues to cause rift amongst its own people, the womenfolk will launch intense agitation against the government, she cautioned while reminding that Arambai Tenggol volunteers have been protecting the Meetei villages from attack of Kuki narco-terrorists ever since ethnic conflict broke out on May 3, 2023.In Kakching district, human chain was formed by Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibi at Lamjao demanding the government not to take action against AT and village volunteers, but reach an understanding with AT for the sake of protecting the unity and integrity of the state.
