Imphal, December 31 2019: World Soil Month 2019 was observed at Kangvai, Churachandpur on Monday.

The Green Foundation and Lamp Society, Churachandpur organised the observance under the aegis of National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

The event observed under the theme "Stop soil erosion, Save our future" saw a discussion on 'conservation of soil' and application of smart organic agriculture.

Bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides were distributed to farmers.

At the event, Imphal East District Agriculture Office EO Ch Bashantaroy informed farmers about soil conservation and ill effects of poor farming and use of chemicals on soil.

He encouraged farmers to adopt organic farming and use environment-friendly fertilisers that will enrich soil health.

NABARD Churachandpur Deputy District Manager Khup Guite, Lions Club of Churachandpur member Dam Vaiphei and The Green Foundation CEO U Kimmat attended the event as presidium members.
