JCC calls off cease work strike

The indefinite cease work strike carried out by Joint Co-ordinating Committee (JCC) of Engineering Departments has been called off with immediate effect following an understanding arrived at between the striking association and the State Government today.
A meeting was convened between the Government of Manipur and the representatives of the JCC in the office chamber of Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar at Old Secretariat building here today.
In the meeting, the State government was represented by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar; PHE Minister I Hemochandra and IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip.
Speaking to media persons at the PWD complex located at Khuyathong after the meeting, T Tikendrajit, Chairman of JCC, said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Government of Manipur and the JCC today and the cease work strike carried out by the JCC since November 26 has been called off with immediate effect.
He explained that the MoU was signed between the two parties under certain terms and conditions.
Accordingly, the Pay bands and Grade pays shall be notionally effective from January 1, 2006 to March 31, 2010 with cash payment from April 1, 2012 subject to availability of sufficient fund under the plan or Non-Plan Head of Accounts in the respective departments.
The cash payment for the period from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2012 or for the left out period prior to April 1, 2012, if any shall be paid provided sufficient fund is available in the respective departments; the Finance Department (PIC), Government of Manipur shall relax inclusion of CPOS (MGEL) of the Employees data for two months.
During this period, the Finance Department will finalise the matter.
The MoU further stated that there shall be no victimization of the striking members in connection with the JCC strike.
Tikendrajit further informed that the MoU was signed by him, B Gunamani Sharma; H Balesor Singh, General Secretary MID and L Bimol Chadra, General Secretary, IFCD on behalf of JCC while Ram Muivah, Principal Secretary (Works); M Lokendro, Chief Engineer, PWD; M Shyambabu, Chief Engineer, MI and Th Indramani, Chief Engineer, IFCD appended their signatures on behalf of the State Government.
